Karakol to Bishkek via Son-Kul Lake 2-Day Tour

Tour Overview:

This two-day adventure starts with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Karakol. We'll take you on a scenic drive through gorges, waterfalls, canyons, mountain passes, and high-altitude lakes—ending your trip in the capital, Bishkek.

Day 1:

Karakol – Djety-Oguz – Barskoon – Skazka Canyon – Son-Kul Lake

• Djety-Oguz Gorge: Our first stop is the famous red sandstone cliffs of Djety-Oguz, also known as the "Seven Bulls." You'll have time to explore the gorge, take photos, and enjoy a short walk in this beautiful area.
• Barskoon Gorge & Waterfalls: Next, we continue to Barskoon, where you can visit several picturesque waterfalls depending on your walking or hiking preferences. The area is surrounded by pine forests and also features memorials and monuments, including statues dedicated to Yuri Gagarin, who vacationed here after his historic spaceflight.
• Skazka Canyon (Fairy Tale Canyon): After Barskoon, we head to the stunning Skazka Canyon. Here, wind and water have carved the rocks into unique, colorful shapes, resembling castles, dragons, and fairy-tale landscapes—perfect for short hikes and photography.
• Son-Kul Lake: In the afternoon, we'll drive up winding mountain roads and passes toward the breathtaking alpine lake, Son-Kul. Located at an altitude of over 3,000 meters, the lake offers serene views and wide open spaces. You'll spend the night in a traditional yurt camp on the lakeshore, experiencing the peaceful atmosphere of Kyrgyz nomadic life.

Day 2:

Son-Kul – Orto-Tokoi Reservoir – Burana Tower – Bishkek

• After breakfast, we'll leave Son-Kul and drive toward Bishkek.
• Along the way, we’ll pass the Orto-Tokoi Reservoir, a beautiful manmade lake set against mountain backdrops.
• Burana Tower: Before reaching Bishkek, we’ll stop at the historic Burana Tower complex. Built in the 11th century, this minaret is one of Kyrgyzstan’s oldest architectural monuments and an important part of the ancient Silk Road. You can climb the tower and explore the surrounding ruins and ancient stone carvings known as balbals.
• In the evening, we'll arrive in Bishkek, where the tour concludes.
