A Modern Ski Resort in Kyrgyzstan - Karakol Ski Base

Thanks to Kyrgyzstan's mountainous geography, the country offers plenty of good ski resorts, including the famous Karakol Ski Base. The best winter sports facilities can be found in Kyrgyzstan's eastern part, just outside of Karakol town and only 400 km from the capital (Bishkek city). Refurbished in 2008, Karakol Ski Base is a very modern mountain skiing resort and is worth visiting during your trip to Kyrgyzstan.

Karakol ski base is an ideal place, not only for professional mountain skiers, but also for all people who like winter skiing and snowboading.

The bulk of the lift capacity is delivered by four high-speed chairlifts - two 2-seater and two 3-seater chair lifts - most of which are equipped with pull-down leather covers, extending 400m-3500m distance and 100-750m vertical rise (from 2300m above the sea level to 3050m). Access to the ski area is from one base station, which includes car parking for day visitors.

Lift pass prices are not expensive - approximately 10$ for an adult day pass, reaching the peak of price 12$-13$ on New Year holidays. Children have discounts of 20-30%.

Karakol town, 7 km from ski base, offers a huge range of accommodation: from economy hostels for 11-12$ per person per night to the luxury apartments for 50-60$ per night. We can help you get from the town to the ski base.

There are two main airports in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan to get to Karakol. The first one is Manas Airport (Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan) within a five hour drive and the second one is Almaty Airport (Kazakhstan) which is approximately a six hour drive by taxi from Almaty to Karakol via Kegen (Charyn Canyon).
